Our Welly Walks !!!

Every Friday the reception children go on welly walks and explore the school grounds. They enjoy looking at the changing seasons. This term we have been building dens for all sorts of animals. It is a great way for the children to be cooperative in small group work and it develops their observation and questioning skills.

All Around the World - Handa's Surprise

What a fantastic start to our new topic, 'All Around the World'.  The children have enjoyed sharing the story of Handa's Surprise, tasting different fruits featured in the story and locating their origin on the globe. We were lucky enough to have a visit from Kwame who shared music and art from his home country of Ghana.  The children throughly enjoyed his music and were inspired to have a go back in the classroom. "The man was banging a drum very loud." Dylan 'Its a long way away and you have to go on a plane.  He lives in a village." Enes "The music was lovely." Nayana The children continued with African  drumming in their music sessions this week. The children experimented cut up fruits and paint to make printed pictures... They have enjoyed using the travelling machine in the classroom I wonder where it will take us next week?
