Autumn second term

Image
The end of another term is approaching and the children have learnt alot. They are progressing in phonics and have moved onto phase 3 sounds and reading lots more tricky words. They have enjoyed our space topic and have experienced lots of writing opportunities including writing in space dens, writing on clingfilm, glitter and slime! In maths they are becoming more confident in counting and have learnt to carry out simple addition and subtraction problems. The children have  been measuring using length, weight and capacity and have been exploring shapes. Space moon rocks that the children made. Evidence of visitors from outer space?

This first half term has flown by, but what a lot of things the children have done! They have enjoyed learning all about Autumn and have had some amazing welly walks, exploring and discovering things in nature. In maths the children have been recognising numerals and have been practising their counting skills. There has been lots of mark making and writing experiences.  All the children have been learning their phase 2 sounds in phonics and have their own sound books to work on at home.  Most importantly the children have all settled really well intonation life and have been making new friends and enjoying playing co operatively.
