This week the children have been reading "Whatever Next" by Jill Murphy. They have enjoyed pretending to go to the moon in our class spaceship! They have also been choosing what picnic they would take with them. The children have now learnt all their phase 2 sounds and are using these now to blend together to make simple words.

Remembrance

Today we remembered the fallen. We shared the story Stubby and created finger paint and collage poppies. The children showed great respect by taking part in the 2 minute silence. They were excited to hear the cannons from Lymington marking the start and finish of the silence.

This week the children have been excitedly talking about fireworks. They have been watching displays on the large screen and developing some descriptive language. They have represented firework displays through art by blowing paint and  expressing themselves through movement. Using their knowledge of sounds the children have been writing simple onamatopia s eg. Pop! Zoom! Woo! We also made some edible fireworks using bread sticks and sprinkles.
